The name of Jesus (Fifth part)
Verse of the day: Matthew 10:32-33 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven”
Yesterday we ended by saying that Jesus can ONLY save those who approach God through him. He is alive to intercede for them. When I pray in the name of Jesus, I know deep in my heart that God sees me through the blood of Jesus which gives me God’s attention.
The bible clearly says in the book to the Hebrews that we have a high priest (Jesus) who’s unable to empathize with our weaknesses because he has been tempted like us in every way without sinning (Heb 4:15)
The verse of the day (Matt 10:32-33) shows us that if I disown Jesus before men, He will disown before my Father in heaven.
The only reason why Christians are ashamed to confess the name of Jesus before men, is because they want to please them. Paul writes in Galatians 1:10 “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ”
If someone is born again, it means that he gives his life to Jesus and accepts to testify for Him. The problem is that the society in which we live is against the name of Jesus. People can tolerate when you pray or talk about God but when it comes to talk about Jesus, there is always a kind of resistance and sometime we feel a kind of aggression.
Consequently, some Christians prefer not to talk about the name of Jesus in order to keep good relationship with their family, their colleagues, their boss, the authorities…and if that is the case, the verse of the day says that Jesus will disown them before the Father.
Keep meditating and tomorrow we will end the teaching by talking about baptism in the name of Jesus.
