(Fourth part)
Memory verse (Matt 15:8-9): " These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men ".
Satan has stolen true worship from today’s church and he has given the believers a fake thing that looks like worship but a worldly thing. Jesus has a plan of what kind of worship he wants to build in his church. We need to know the worship the Lord desires from us and we offer that to God. Jesus brought new order of worship in the church, i.e. spiritual worship (Jn4: 23-24)
True worship is inspired by the Holy Spirit. Without him in our lives, our worship wells are dry and empty. On the day of Pentecost when the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit, for the first time, they praised and worshipped God (Acts2: 11). To worship God in the spirit and truth, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit. You don’t need to have a good voice; neither does the Bible require it, the Bible only tells us to make good noise unto the Lord. Worship is not about a place. Jesus taught that it is not in Jerusalem nor is it in the mountain that people worship the Father, but in the Spirit. Worship is what takes place in your spirit. Instruments are good, but worship is not instrument. Scripture teaches that when you are filled with the Holy Sprit, psalms, hymns and spiritual songs begin to play within your heart or spirit (Eph5: 18). Can you imagine what the church could be like if every believer is full of spiritual songs in his heart! This is how the early church believers lived and this is what Satan has stolen from today’s church and from you. And instead Satan has filled your life with stress, fear, confusion, heaviness, sorrow and complaints. In many churches, there is a great spiritual dryness that the church has not even a song to sing, so they imitate the world and this has brought spiritual death in the church. It’s time we kick the devil in the face and throw out of the church the rubbish of the world and go to our knees and cry out to God to pour upon us his Spirit and worship shall return in God’s house which is you. When true worship comes into your life and the church, God’s glory will be seen by all and this is one of the great treasures of the church and our lives.
